World Summit on the Information Society

In this study the author presents an overview of the political game that determines the themes established in the WSIS agenda. It affirms that, "because of its multi-disciplinary character and complexity, following this process is a tough challenge to many governments, as well as to civil society in general. This document was especially prepared for the Regional Workshop titled "From Fringe to Center: Gender Equity in Building the Information Society", held on May 9 - 11, 2005. The event was promoted by the WSIS Gender Caucus and coordinated by UNESCO Chair on Women, Science and Technology in Latin America.
