The e-Living project, launched on 1st January 2001, is creating a co-ordinated set of pan-European longitudinal household panels specifically to generate quantitative data on the uptake and usage of information and communication technologies (ICTs) over time. The series of household panels surveys in six countries - Norway, Germany, Israel, Italy, Bulgaria and the UK - provides information on family circumstances, domestic arrangements, employment, finances, and usage of IST technologies.
The panels are random samples of households within selected clusters of areas chosen on the basis of standard stratification criteria applicable to each country and also to the analytic requirements specified in subsequent themes. Interviews will be with those aged 16 or above. The samples are national rather than international, but comparable across countries.
