One of the main findings of the Survey "Europeans, Science and Technology" was that 67% of European citizens wanted the presence of more women in scientific research.
This problem is related to the lack of interest on the part of young people in scientific studies. The situation is attributed firstly to "the lack of appeal of scientific studies" (59.5%), next to the "difficulty of the subjects" (55.0%) and thirdly to the fact that "young people are not so interested in scientific subjects" (49.6%). Poor career prospects are also mentioned (42.4%), while only 29.9% of respondents agree that this lack of interest could be caused by science's poor image in society.
